Mattel Creates DCU Collector Parity and Defangs Ebay Sharks

culturalpop-retail-newslink
With news of Mattel ending their exclusive distribution arrangement with select retailers, perhaps now the toy market will allow for a bit of collector parity within the consumer ranks relating to DC Universe Classics.

Over the past 12 years it was because of such market-limiting distribution schemes that many fans/consumers were becoming increasingly disgruntled and alienated within the market. For collectors, this level of detachment could often be attributed to either not living within the footprint of retailers offering brand exclusives, or by the time fans were made aware that an exclusive line of action figures had even been available on the pegs, the hordes of Ebay sharks had already fleeced the isles in their self-serving and gluttonous attempts to swindle the average collector in over-priced auctions online.

Perhaps this newly instituted policy for non-exclusivity for retailers in 2011 will indeed generate parity within the market, while strengthening the demand for high quality action figures, and as an added bonus, taking the teeth out of the Ebay sharks.
